Hi! I'm Nena Johnson, MA-CCC/SLP.

Working with families is an honor. As a pediatric speech therapist, I am entrusted to care for people's treasure, their children. Each family comes to the table with their own story. It is my privilege to learn each one.

I have been a pediatric SLP since I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with my Master's Degree in 1998. I have worked in a pediatric outpatient clinic, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric floor at our local hospital with a wide variety of clients. Currently, I am a clinical supervisor at the Robert F. Pierce Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic on the campus of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Teaching the next generation of speech language pathologists has made me a better clinician.

I have worked with many different kinds of communication disorders in my 23 years of practice. My experience with infants and children with feeding difficulties, apraxia, developmental language disorder, cleft palate, articulation disorders and a host of others gives me range of tools to use to develop an individualized plan for each kiddo I see. If I can't figure out a plan, I have a strong network of other clinicians to ask.

I have a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and am currently licensed in Minnesota. My specialized training includes a certification in Neurodevelopmental Treatment, SOS feeding approach and Neonatal Massage and Touch Certification.

I have lived in the Duluth, MN my entire life. My husband Scott and I have two boys. Griffin is 20, is a member of the Air National Guard and is attending college. Reese was 13 when he died in August 2019. He had a mitochondrial disease and lived 10 years longer than other children with the same genetic mutation. My children have taught me so much.
